In this workshop you will make a hussif, with customised pockets to hold your basic sewing supplies in a neat, three-fold pouch. The hussif is said to have been designed for travelling soldiers in the 1700s.
The hussif is constructed in two parts. First you will embellish the outside cover with patterns of running stitch and/or simple reverse appliqué to showcase bright jewel fabrics. For the inside section you will stitch felt pockets to hold scissors, thread, thimble, buttons, etc. and construct a small needle book for pins and needles.
The final step is to stitch the two sections together, add a cord for tying the hussif closed, and then you can fold it into a neat, contained sewing kit.
This workshop is a lovely combination of practical construction and creative stitching. It is aimed at intermediate level sewing with the opportunity to learn appliqué and construction skills.
