Project Sample

The basic requirements and various methods of English Paper are demonstrated.  Learn how to make your ‘Fabric Cutting Template and how to best trace on the fabric.
The art of sewing the covered shapes together will be shown as well as discussing thread and sewing needles.  Fabric selection and different fabric design options will be shown and discussed.
The Applique Technique is demonstrated for the adding of borders.
How to cut and sew an Envelope Cushion Backing is also demonstrated as well as the cutting, joining, pressing and sewing on of the binding to complete the cushion.

Requirements list for Fabric:
1x 55cm x 55cm Background fabric for the front of the cushion
1x 10cm x full width of fabric (FWOF) for the squares
For the Honeycombs: lots of your favourite fabric scraps at least 2.5" x 3.5" (You can even use a Jelly Roll) - (about 52cm x FWOF in total)
Other requirements:
fabric scissors
small scissors
Hand sewing Needles - recommend Milliners/Straw Needles no. 9
White 'overlocking' thread
Thread for sewing: a neutral colour (donkey brown, khaki or medium grey) - Recommend Mettler Silk-Finish from Bernina or Guttermann
Thimble
Pritt, HB pencil and pencil sharpener
Piece of sandpaper or a sandpaper board - the sandpaper should have a slight texture
ADDITIONAL Requirements not required for the class:

55cm thin batting
Backing fabric for the cushion:  38cm x FWOF
Binding Fabric:  10cm x FWOF
