Marilyn lives in Port Elizabeth, began teaching quilt making techniques in 1988 and has won multiple major awards for her quilts.

She has no formal art training but developed her own style of quilt making by experimenting with fabric paints, machine appliqué, various ways of machine & hand embroidery and quilting.

She is a Master Quilter, SAQG Recommended Teacher, recipient of the SAQG Pro Dedicate service award and was inducted in the SAQG Hall of Fame in 2019.

She also paints fat quarters which she sells under the Brush Rags label.
