I have always loved colour, lots of colour. This started from being a little girl sitting in church and told “to sit still and be quiet”, so I would stare up at the wondrous stained-glass windows. I have been a stained-glass artist and teacher, also dabbled in Mosaics, beading, embroidery, candlemaking, ribbon flowers, dyeing fabric but Quilting is my main passion.
Occasionally I do sell quilts, but they are always part of me. I enjoy making charity quilts, and love having a whole pile of fabric on the floor and let it speak to me, of how to make up the designs.
In 2014 I took the Teachers Accreditation course with the South African Quilters Guild - which is the hardest thing I have ever done; WOW was I so pleased to pass.
In 2019 the TAPE (Textile Art Port Elizabeth) group was formed, and I am an active member, we are set challenges several times a year. A group exhibition was held by the group at the GFI gallery in 2021 which was the first time I have shown some of my smaller pieces of Fabric Art.
I have also been secretary and Chairlady of the Dias Guild, which is a great way to get to know all the members, and also it makes you realize how much effort goes into running a guild.
Teaching allows me to share my passion & encourage others to try new things.
